The purpose of this space is very simple: To assist people with a disability in achieving more independence, to feel less alone and to find more enjoyment in the way they live.
I thought it would be wonderful if there was a clear road map or “how to” guide for living with a disability. I felt I needed something simple and straight forward to tell me where to find things, what challenges I might face and who could offer the best advice on certain issues. Not having found one, I decided to create my own. In order to make the most of this space, I invite you to share in nurturing and developing it into something that has real value for real people.
This is a space to give feedback on services, review establishments and swap tips for living well; as well as anything else you feel you need from it. I have tried to make it as accessible as possible.
This website is split into three main sections, reviews, advice and helpful resources. The reviews section contains community contributed reviews of places, products and services. All registered visitors to the website can vote on the accessibility or usefulness of the venue, product or service. The advice section contains real world experiences and advice from a selection of disabled authors. The advice will include articles like how to buy a wheelchair. The resources section will list charities and organisations that can provide advice and support and how they can help. Please enjoy this space and use it well.
