A web-developing wheelchair user has created a new online resource that he says will help disabled people and their friends to help each other get more out of life.

Andy Stiller, 41, from Brighton, was inspired to create the website www.disability-advice.info because of his own experience of the lack of good information and practical advice for disabled people.

“Since becoming a wheelchair user 14 years ago, I have been constantly frustrated by the shortage of useful information on venues, services and products,” says Andy.

“This can turn simple acts like going out with friends or buying a pair of gloves a logistical nightmare.”

“Disabled people and their friends have a huge amount of knowledge and experience when it comes to accessing the world with a disability. The idea of the www.disability-advice.info is to share information and reviews on venues, services and products – as well as practical tips and advice to make life easier.”

Andy, who was born with Spina bifida, is now inviting disabled people and their families and carers to get involved with the project by uploading reviews and information and about venues, products.

Andy is been working with existing disability services in Brighton & Hove to spread to word and help get more people involved with the project.

He developed his idea for www.disability-advice.info whilst attending a Community Leaders Programme run by The Men’s Network in Brighton & Hove in 2011 and has been receiving ongoing coaching and supporting from local social enterprise, Leading The Change over the past 12 months.
